HLV advances to play Cherry Hill East with the winner going to the championship round

HLV jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period and went on to a 6-3 win over Mainland in late Tier II playoff action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The loss eliminated Mainland from the double elimination tournament. HLV will now play Cherry Hill East on Monday with the winner going to the championship round against Clearview. HLV’S top JVB player Nick Avgousti opened the scoring five minutes into the game and just over one minute later Jacob Mohnacs scored for a 2-0 lead. HLV would carry much of the offensive play launching 14 shots. Late in the period Kevin Yang would make it 3-0 as HLV seemed in control.

The second period found the teams even in shots with 10 each, but the only goal came from Tyler DiSanto at the nine-minute mark from HLV and a 4-0 lead after two. Mainland would make a run early in the third as goals by James Murray and Ralph Triboletti cut the lead in half at 4-2. We stayed that way until less than three minutes remained; HLV would get a goal from Tyler Grey to push the lead to 5-2. Ninety seconds later Brady Swain would make it 6-2 as HLV regained control. Mainland would get a late goal from Conor Ogborn to close out the scoring.
