The Vikings improved to 9-1 in their last ten games after starting the season at 0-1-2

Six different player scored for Eastern as they defeated Shawnee 6-2 in a battle of Tier I teams at the Skate Zone. The Vikings improved to 9-1 in their last 10 games after starting the season at 0-1-2. Luke Riley gave the Vikings an early 1-0 lead scoring his fifth goal of the season just two minutes into the first. Midway through the period with Eastern down two men, Kristopher Zapata, would score a short-handed goal and the Vikings led 2-0. Still on the back end of the advantage Shawnee would get one back on the power play as Thomas Caputo scored to cut the lead to 2-1. Sean Pomerantz would answer for Eastern just over one minute later and the Vikings would take a 3-1 lead into the second period.

The Vikings would control the period outshooting Shawnee 11-4 and getting power play goals from Kristian Massanova and Jordan Stein and the lead was 5-1 entering the third period. Ryan Karbach scored at the nine-minute mark to push the lead to 6-1. Shawnee would get a goal from Tom McKeown in the closing seconds to end the scoring. Interestingly Shawnee has handed Eastern one of their losses and has tied them early on, so this could be a match-up to watch come tournament time.
